During the month of February, cellebrated around the nation as Black History Month, the Rockaway Civic Association/Sorrentino Recreation Center Seniors were busy celebrating Black history as well. On February 28, the seniors from the Sorrentino Center went to Citibank to attend a Gospel Brunch on Hillside Avenue in Queens. Ms. Mary Fhay, a Citibank employee, sang beautifully at the brunch. Also, during the month of February, the seniors visited Mount Calvary Church in Harlem to attend a one-woman show by Mzuri. The show, which was based on the life of Fanny Mae Hammer, was greatly appreciated by all of the seniors who attended.
