Famous Airplane Displayed

The "Candy Bomber" pilot was an icon who became synonymous with the Berlin Airlift Mission.

On Saturday, March 15 at 3 p.m., Gateway National Recreation Area’s Floyd Bennett Field is offering the public an opportunity to learn about this important mission and the famous "Candy Bomber" pilot.

The original military plane used in the Berlin Airlift will be on display during this ranger-led program.

The program is free, but reservations are required. For reservations, directions and more information, call (718) 338-3799. The program will take place at Ryan Visitor Center.
