It may look like New Orleans, but this is the DSSM-Neponsit Adult Day Health Care Center celebrating Mardi Gras! On March 3, two days before Ash Wednesday, the clients at the day care center, located at 716 Beach 9 Street, Far Rockaway, kicked up their heels and turned up their vocal chords to celebrate Mardi Gras. Phil D’Orio played the electric guitar and keyboard, belting out one jazz tune after another. The seniors designed centerpieces and wore fantasy homemade masks decorated with feathers, sparkles, and beads. The revelry culminated in guessing who hid behind the creative masks. The day was better than the next best thing – it was the real thing!
