Lloyd Bey Takes CSD 27 Reins

At least for the next several months, until the newly-formed school division five takes charge of Rockaway schools, Michelle Lloyd Bey will be the Community School District (CSD) 27 Superintendent.

Lloyd Bey, who previously was the deputy superintendent for the school district, was appointed last week by School Chancellor Joel Klein in the wake of the promotion of superintendent Matt Bromme.

Bromme has moved to the Tweed Courthouse, the new headquarters for the Department of Education. He is now a senior operations manager in charge of the new centralized school-transfer process and to coordinate compliance with the new federal No Child Left Behind Law.

In addition, Sandy Brawer, the former operations manager for Community School District 27, was promoted by Klein to a senior operations position with the Department of Education.

It is expected that Lloyd Bey will serve as district superintendent until September, when the Rockaway schools become part of School Division Five, under the leadership of Kathleen Cashin, who was recently appointed as Region Superintendent. At that time, Lloyd Bay will reportedly become one of her ten or twelve chief lieutenants, who will be called "instructional supervisors." Lloyd Bey will reportedly be in charge of a cluster of Rockaway schools after the change.
