Rockaway’s Kurt Cedo Captures City Gold

Capping off an undefeated swim season, Xaverian’s Kurt Cedo pulled from behind and won both the 200 yard IM (2:01.75) and the 100 yard Butterfly (55.18).

In the 2003 CHSAA Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center on February 9, 2003, Kurt also led the Aqua Clippers into 5th place in the 200 yard Medley Relay (1:49. 34) and 7th place in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay (1:37.47).

Kurt was presented with the Jack Kennedy Career Award for an outstanding career in the Catholic High School Swimming and Diving League. The league coaches vote on the award It is both an honor and a tribute to be nominated.

Kurt was also awarded the Tom Booras Award, which is given to the highest individual point scorer in the championship meet. The Coaches award was presented to Kurt for being one of the top competitors in Xaverian’s history. Clipper Coach Jim D’ Ottavio said, "Kurt is also a team leader and a real gentlemen."
