Shame On Them

Shame On Them

I am deeply disturbed by two letters published in your newspaper regarding the incident involving the Yeshiva and Catholic School students.  Joseph Gesser states that "...common sense suggests that Rabbi's version is the more accurate one."  He goes on to say, "It is simply not plausible that the boys were the ones who started it up in the first place. They are also trained in the ways of helpfulness and kindness."  Irving Weiss says,   "It is not possible that a boy from the Yeshiva would even touch a girl in front of fellow students and certainly not push one."  What exactly are they implying?  Are they saying Catholics, more specifically St. Francis, teach their students otherwise?  The whole incident seems like a few mischievous kids getting a little out of hand and a lot less troublesome than some would make it out to be.  What is troublesome is when two adults like Mr. Gesser and Mr. Weiss (who should know better) resort to finger pointing and make inflammatory anti-Catholic statements like the ones in your paper.  Shame on the both of them.
