Relay For Life Kick-Off Party On March 6

Cancer affects more than 8.9 million people in the United States. In the next twelve months, more than 1.2 million Americans will be diagnosed with cancer and a projected 555,5000 will die because of it.

The public is invited to make a difference and help provide hope to patients, families and friends coping with cancer.

The Relay For Life Team Captain Kick-Off Party will be held on March 6 at 7 p.m. so that those interested can learn more about the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. The kick-off party will be at First Congregational Church, located at 320 Beach 94 Street.

"Relay For Life" is an overnight event that brings the community together to remember those who have lost their battle with cancer, honor those who have won their battle and encourage those still in the battle. It raises the awareness of cancer in the community and raises money to support the programs and services of the American Cancer Society.

Relay For Life of Rockaway will take place on Saturday, June 7 to Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Beach Channel High School in Rockaway Park.

Seating is limited. If you plan on attending the kick-off party, or if you can’t attend the party but would like additional information, please call Leslie at the American Cancer Society at 718-263-2225, ext. 26 or e-mail at leslie.orlovsky@cancer.org.
