Greater New York Ice Hockey League - New York Stars

The Stars were home at the Abel Stark arena, as they hosted the ever-talented N.J. Jr. Devils "AA" team, and although the home team took an early lead, they eventually succumbed to the Jersey boys by a score of 6-1.

The Stars brought the large crowd to its feet 4:16 into the game when winger Patrick Brown backhanded a shot over the left shoulder of the Jr. Devils goalie.  Assists went to center Alex Mitic and defenseman Michael Strenk.

The Devils tied the game with but 57 seconds to play in the period, as forward Bryan Robinson beat Stars goalie Ricky Cibrano.

It took but 20 seconds of play in the second period for the visitors to take a 2-1 lead, as they capitalized on some weak defensive coverage down low to beat Cibrano.

For the rest of the period, the Stars outskated the Jersey team, but they could not get the puck into the net.

The Stars seemed to run out of steam right from the start of the final period.  The Devils forechecked them into numerous mistakes and picked up 2 goals in less then a minute, early in the period taking a 4-1 lead.

For the remainder of the period the Stars had trouble keeping up with the visitors and surrendered 2 more goals late in the period, to run the final to 6-1.

The Stars were outshot 28-16, and the loss ran their overall record to 27-11-4.
