Stop Promoting Hate

Stop Promoting Hate

Last night I, together with both lay and clergy people, attended a meeting at the 100th precinct for the purpose of demonstrating the desire and ability of members of the community to live in harmony with each other, as they always have.

I believe that your headline story was not only inappropriate but really outrageous.  You reported that the three Yeshiva students "harrassed" Catholic girls.  I thought that even Yeshiva students have a right, under the constitutions of the United States and the State of New York, to a presumption of innocence.  Your headline story already convicted them.

It was only at the conclusion of the article that you reported that a meeting took place between Msgr. Martin Geraghty and Rabbi Levi Dicker.  Perhaps you should highlight the good will and the understanding that exists between the diverse groups in our community and their leaders.  I suggest you promote harmony rather than hate.
