Weiner Gets Kudos From CSD 27

Parents, students, teachers, and school administrators from Public School District 27 recently presented Congressman Anthony Weiner with an award recognizing his efforts on behalf of their schools.  School District 27 includes schools located in Rockaway, South Ozone Park, Broad Channel, Richmond Hill, Woodhaven, Ozone Park, Howard Beach, Lindenwood, and Jamaica.

Since arriving in Congress in 1998, Weiner has secured $14,002,454 in aid for School District 27, money that's been used for everything from innovative learning initiatives to after school programs.   And he's worked especially hard to develop good, new magnet schools for the district, securing $2,327,613 for that effort.

School Superintendent Matthew Brome, PS 63 Principal Mary Jane Crescente, parents, teachers, and students recognized Rep. Weiner with an award presentation, made at PS 63's weekly 5th grade assembly.

"NYC schools are facing substantial challenges, not only from the city's budget troubles, but from a new round of unfunded mandates emanating from Washington," said Rep. Weiner.  "There is nothing more important than our kids' education, and I will keep fighting to make sure the school district gets the resources it deserves."
