Smith Sponsors ‘Sends A Vet A Valentine’

Sen. Malcolm A. Smith is once again seeking to make Valentine’s Day a little brighter for hospitalized veterans at the St. Albans Primary and Extended Care Center & State Veterans Nursing Home. The donation drive is being co-sponsored by Team 100, a civic organization that has pledged to help the Senator with his work in the community.

The Queens lawmaker is sponsoring his third annual "Send A Vet A Valentine" gift distribution program to collect donations of new clothing, toiletries and prepaid calling cards that will be provided to the veterans on Thursday, February 13.

Community residents and businesses interested in participating in the program may drop off donations, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Senator Smith’s office at 172-12 Linden Boulevard in St. Albans. Interested individuals may also call Senator Smith’s office at 718-291-9097 for further information.

"One of the best things about the Fourteenth Senator District that I am so privileged to represent is the good-heartedness and the generosity of my constituents. I hope they will join with me in this effort to demonstrate to veterans that they are in our hearts and thoughts both on Valentine’s Day and throughout the year," noted Senator Smith.
