Open House For Triangle Park Memorials Set For Feb. 4

The Chamber of Commerce of the Rockaways, Inc./The Rockaway Partnership and Community Board #14 will host an Open House at The Beach Club on Tuesday, February 4, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Although all submissions by artists for the artwork to be installed in "Tribute Park" will be on display, the focus will be on the thirteen finalists already selected by the preliminary selection committee.

This Open House is the culmination of the public comment portion of the final selection process, which is expected to be complete by February 15.

The artists/designers of the thirteen finalists have been invited to discuss their proposals and will be available to answer questions. These presentations will begin at 6:45 p.m. Comment forms will be available during the open house. The selection committee, during this final selection process, will give careful consideration to all comments received.

This will be the last weekend of the thirteen "finalist" designs display in Building T6 at Ft. Tilden on Saturdays and Sundays. The public is invited to view these designs during the afternoon hours and submit their comments, in writing, by mail to the Chamber of Commerce or via e-mail at rockawaychamber@aol.com.

Representatives from the Chamber Partnership will be on hand at the open house to answer questions concerning the development and progress of the "Tribute Park" itself. Brick purchase forms will also be available.

The public comment period of the final selection process is integral to the selection of the art installation for the park. The installation selected will be a part of Rockaway for many years to come and it is essential that it reflect the spirit and wishes of the entire Rockaway community. Chamber executive director Liz Sulik urges residents to mark their calendars and attend this open house.
