Stella Maris Keeps Winning

Stella Maris’ Junior Varsity team improved its league record to 6-2 with another victory over St. Joseph’s High School (Brooklyn). SM took the lead early and never looked back. Catherine Rudden (10 pts.) and Kelly McKinley (8 pts.) led the initial charge. In the second half, strong rebounding efforts by Erin Casey, Maureen Carey, Tara Mink and Christina Comis kept the Blue Jays at bay. Twelve lady Flippers scored in all including: Damaris Rivera, Barbara Krulish, Alyce Miraglia, Mary Carson, Erin Sugrue and Caroline Weeks. The final score was 50-37.

Meanwhile, the varsity squad improved its league record to 6-1 with their home win over Catherine McAuley High School. In the 53-23 victory, the Blue and Gold were led by: Sara Massimino, Cynthia Galanos, Nicole Santoro (game high 10 pts.), Marygrace Brady and Liz Jablonski.

Both teams continued league play this past week at home vs. St. Agnes and away at St. Edmund. St. Saviour (doubleheader on Tuesday 1/21) is the next league home date.
