Smith Encourages Veterans Valentine Program

State Senator Malcolm A. Smith has announced that the people of the fourteenth senatorial district once again have an opportunity to brighten the lives of those who have served our country through his "Send A Vet A Valentine" program.

"The people who reside at the St. Albans Primary and Extended Care Center and the State Veterans Nursing Home have enabled us all to enjoy the freedoms that we should never take for granted," Senator Smith said.

This program, now in its second year, collects donations of new clothing, toiletries and pre-paid calling cards that will be provided to veterans. It is sponsored by Senator Smith and Team 100, a civic organization that works with the Senator on various community causes. The gifts will be distributed on February 13.

Community residents and businesses interested in participating in the program may bring donations to Senator Smith’s office, located at 172-12 Linden Boulevard, St. Albans, Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

For more information, interested individuals may call Senator Smith’s District Office at 718-291-9097.

"I’m hoping that this year’s collection is even better than last year’s "Send A Vet A Valentine" is a wonderful way for us to show our appreciation for all that our veterans have done for us," Senator Smith concluded.
