BCHS Celebrates Honor Roll

BCHS Celebrates Honor Roll

On Thursday, January 9, Beach Channel High School (BCHS) hosted an award ceremony and dinner in honor of more than 400 students who were named to the Gold, Silver and Bronze Honor Rolls for Spring 2002.

The event, coordinated by Ms. Sheila Murray, Coordinator of Student Affairs, began with the presentation of the flags by BCHS Color Guards Priscilla Head, Inez Salick, Angela Quinn and Teresa Morales while the Beach Channel Band, led by Mr. Barry Domford, played the Star Spangled Banner.

The Principal of Beach Channel High School, Ms. Andrea G. Holt, addressed the honorees and asked each parent to stand and give him/herself a round of applause for a job well done.

Ms. Melissa Reyes, a former BCHS Honor Roll Student and graduate in the class of 1999, was the Keynote Speaker. Melissa, a senior at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, encouraged the students to gain valuable work and life experience in addition to achieving a high grade point average in school.

Ms. Jacqueline Primus, PTA President, addressed the honorees and their parents just before the presentation of awards. Ms. Primus praised the hard work and dedication of the students, parents, and staff.

Assistant Principals Ms. Meyers, Ms. Lee, Ms. Wilford, Mr. Marcus, Ms. Royal, Mr. Monereau, and Mr. Sanchez assisted Ms. Holt with the presentation of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards. Staff members, Ms. Slosberg and Ms. Bilinkoff, escorted students to the stage.

Ms. Hope Lawrence, a BCHS staff member, sang a heartwarming rendition of God Bless America and the BCHS Band performed a musical finale before the guests proceeded to a scrumptious dinner in the BC Gym. Congratulations to all of the students named to the Honor Roll!
