Clean Up Your Act!

Clean Up Your Act!

Dear Editor;

During the Christmas season I had the occasion to drive to Rockaway to visit a relative's new home in Rockaway Park.

The drive along Rockaway Boulevard was, needless to say, like driving in a Third World country. The filth, debris and the overgrown vegetation was a horrible sight.

How can the people of Rockaway let their councilmen get away with such lack of support for the community? Don't they ever have the streets cleaned? Especially in the 80's and 90's, I was surprised to see such a mess.

Aren't the people aware of what it looks like or have they become so accustomed to it that it no longer bothers them? If you want the Olympics to come to Rockaway, you had better clean up your act!

A former summer Rockaway girl,

BARBARA SIMPSON
