On The Beach… With Beverly Baxter

On The Beach... With Beverly Baxter

Cheers To A Wonderful 2003

Whether you were cuddled up by a roaring fire with the one you love or ringing in the New Year at a roaring party, I hope your New Year's was fun, safe, and filled with love. Although I was out of town, and in a different time zone, I did watch while New York rang in the New Year, like only New Yorkers can!

2002 could not go by with out the recognition and appreciation of certain individuals whom have endeared themselves to me. Either through specific gestures of kindness or by simply being who they are, their presence in my life has touched me in more ways than the written word could ever express. I could not end the chapter of one year and begin to enter another with our reflecting upon these individuals and the profound moments that bring them to mind.

The Sullivans- Rosemary, Rosemary and John. Their spirit of friendship has sustained me in many personal ways.

Mary Dever-Kelly! I have been so blessed to have been befriended by this extraordinary woman who is an example of all that is good and positive. This community is so lucky to have her in our midst.

Mary Alice (MA) Lane, Joann Waters, and Michael (running shoes) Reilly! And Mary Bright, always!
Geraldine Chapey and her wonderful husband, Eugene Pasternak. Need I say more! We learned so much from our friend Jimmy that there are no problems. Only solutions. The challenge is to unravel and find it.
Stevie Good, who wears his name soooo well and is a handsome example of what community-spirit is all about!
Kevin Boyle- for articulating in his book, Braving The Waves, why Rockaway is such a special place to live.
The Wave staff- especially Howie, Gary, and Felicia for editing my columns.. even when they are sometimes on time to be late! My colleague, Dorothy Dunne- for a conversation we had that I will never forget!
As I reflect upon this past year, these people remain in my thoughts for the impact they've had on me personally as well as for all they continue to give to our community. Thank you!

***Arverne-By-The-Sea is well under way! Construction on the 32 homes in the first phase has begun several weeks ago.

***Happy Birthday wishes to Teresa Baxter, the most wonderful human being I have ever known.

***Happy Birthday wishes to David Rivera from his mother Joann Waters.

***Get well wishes to Tina Johnson, that wonderful waitress who practically single-handedly runs Tiberio's. I hope you are back on your feet and waiting on us soon!

***Happy New Year! See you....On the Beach!
