     The drought is officially over. DEP Commissioner Christopher Ward has announced that there has been a sufficient rainfall in the upstate watershed area during the past three months to raise reservoir levels well past the norm for this time of the year.

     New Year's Day was certainly rainy and very wet, but gratefully, we did not have any snow dropped on us as snow has a nasty habit of accumulating! And, apparently, at least some of the rain is falling over and into the upstate reservoirs-their capacity is quite a bit higher than usual for this time of the year.
