Perfect Environmental Score For Weiner

Perfect Environmental Score For Weiner

Representative Anthony Weiner has received the League of Conservation Voters highest possible rating for his work in Congress this year.  According to the LCV, Rep. Weiner voted to protect the environment on every key environmental issue considered by Congress in 2002.

Every year, the League of Conservation Voters gives every Member of Congress a score, ranging from 0 - 100%, based on their votes on legislation having an impact on the environment.  A perfect 100% score means that in every instance the Member voted to protect the environment.

This year, Weiner received a perfect score from the LCV for his votes during the second session of the 107th Congress. Weiner was one of only thirty Members of the House of Representatives nationwide to receive a perfect score, and one of only four in the New York delegation.

"I am blessed to represent a district that contains some of the nation's most precious natural resources, from the Jamaica Bay salt marshes and wildlife refuge, to the beautiful beaches of Rockaway and Brooklyn," said Rep. Weiner.  "Protecting the environment will continue to be central to my work in Congress."

This year's LCV scorecard ranked Members on the basis of their votes on matters ranging from farm conservation to coastal drilling, radioactive waste, and trade.
