Celebration: An Opportunity to Socialize with Friends
During the month of December, I have had many wonderful opportunities to participate in Holiday celebrations. My mother, Dr. Geraldine D. Chapey, my husband, Eugene Pasternak and I have enjoyed seeing everyone.
On Sunday, we went to the Irish Christmas Show at St. Rose of Lima featuring Noel Ginnity with special guest Andy Cooney. It also featured soprano, Emer Hartnett; Musical Director, Pat Marnana; Multi Instrumantalist Matt Fisher and world class Irish dancing by Stuart O'Connor and Catherine Watson. The performance was a sell out. It was obvious that everyone was enjoying it because one could hear a pin drop in the audience. Kudos to Mike and Betty Keller, Peggy and Pat McGrath and Mike McCarthy for chairing this outstanding event.
Liz Sulik, the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, chaired a wonderful party at the Beach Club. The Chamber events bring people together. It is an opportunity to exchange business cards. Shopping and doing business locally makes sense from an economical and convenience perspective. Be sure to frequent our local merchants.
Barbara Morris, from the West End Realty, hosted another great party again this year. Every year Barbara treats the community to a very festive gathering. We always look forward to going to Barbara's office to her annual celebration. It seems that the year is getting shorter or going by quicker.
Andrew and Pamela Bauman hosted a very significant event at the Walter Ward School in Lindenwood. They celebrated with a holiday party for the children and families who are part of New York Families for Autistic Children. Interns from St. Johns University helped with the day. Pamela and Andrew Bauman and Pamela's mother Ruth work all year long to provide meaningful and valuable services to autistic children and their families. They provide workshops, seminars and informative speakers from around the country to address the needs of this population. Pamela, Andrew and Ruth are three people who really made a difference.
At this holiday season when we are in a spirit of giving - this would be an excellent organization to send a donation. All of your money goes directly to serving children with special needs. Their address is 95-16 Pitkin Avenue in Ozone Park, New York 11417. The phone number is (718) 641-3441 or 5317. The fax number is (718) 641-4452. They can also be reached on line at www.NYFAC.org. They serve children in all of Queens.

This year Frances Abbracciamento is the Honorary Grand Marshall of our James Conway Sullivan Memorial Queens St. Patrick's Day Parade.
