Bravo To National NAACP!

Bravo To National NAACP!

Dear Editor;

Bravo and felicidades to the national NAACP for successfully negotiating a trade deal between farmers of color in this country and the Cuban government!

The leadership of the national organization, and all those parties involved in doing the deal, demonstrates progressive thinking, courage and superb business savvy by establishing this relationship within the legal parameters of the U.S. International Trade Law. The law, passed in 2000, allows direct commercial sales of U.S. food and agricultural products to Cuba in an exception to the long-standing trade sanctions.

NAACP President Mfume's visionary and gutsy guidance should trickle down to persons in charge of local chapters, and over to leaders of other African-American organizations, to implement much needed initiatives and strategies that will prompt people of color to pull themselves up by their own local, regional, national and global bootstraps.
