The Wonder Of Winter At Wildlife Refuge

The Wonder Of Winter At Wildlife Refuge

On Sunday, December 15 at 1 p.m., a park ranger will lead a guided nature tour of Gateway National Recreation Area’s Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge.

The program will explore the signs of the season and the folklore of winter, all in the outdoor settings of the park. Participants will search for snowbirds and other winter wildlife, as well, as learn about the wildlife value of local plants and how to identify them without their leaves or flowers. Highlighted will be the folklore, superstitions and traditions surrounding the winter season.

The program is free, but reservations are required. To register or for more information, call the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge at (718) 318-4340.

The refuge is located on Crossbay Boulevard in Broad Channel.
