Loved By Many
Rose Crescenzo Ippolito passed away on November 18, 2002 after a long battle with cancer. Rose was a resident of the Rockaways for over 42 years.
In the 1940's, Rose supported the war effort as a machinist at Sperry's in Lake Success. She held several other jobs after World War II.
She was married for 30 years to the late Fred E. Ippolito.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Stonnell, Patricia Mattone-Pedagno, and Susan Steakin; son, John Ippolito; and grandchildren, Anissa Stone, Robert Steakin, Jr., Lisa Albano, and Jeannie Stonnell.
Funeral arrangements were handled under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc.
Frank A. Pennisi
Frank A. Pennisi, born in Brooklyn, was a long time resident of the Howard Beach community who died on November 15, 2002.
Frank worshipped at St. Helen's Church in Howard Beach, and worked as a sergeant at the 100th Precinct until his retirement in 1987. Frank proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Diane (nee Shea) Pennisi; daughters, Louise Defilippis (and husband John) and Karen Touhey; sons, Louis Pennisi (and wife Sandy) and James Touhey (and Coleen); and five grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, Alexia, Taylor, and James.
Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. was held at St. Charles Cemetery.
Frank O. Ruggiero
Retired Shop Steward
Frank O. Ruggiero passed away on November 20, 2002.
Frank was instrumental in the formation of the International Longshoreman's Association (ILA) and its breakaway from the National Maritime Association in the early 1950's. He later retired as a Shop Steward with Local 1814 and Union Activist.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sue (nee Mignone).
He is survived by his son, Ben (and wife Kathy); sister, Connie Tocco; grandchildren, Susan England (and husband Billy), Michele Moore (and husband Billy), and Anne-Marie; and great-grandchildren, Robert and William.
Visitation will take place at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home on Friday, November 22, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m.
A special mass will be conducted on Saturday, November 23, 9:45 a.m., at St. Francis de Sales Church.
Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
World War II Veteran
Felix Spinosa was a resident of Rockaway Beach for 40 years, coming from Manhattan, who died on November 14, 2002.
Felix worshipped at St. Francis de Sales Church, and was a member of the American Legion - O'Connell Post; the Belle Harbor Yacht Club; and the Knights of Columbus Rockaway Council. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kate (nee McMorros) Spinosa; daughters, Eileen Mariani (and Paul), Donna Murray (and John); brothers, Mario, Alfred, and Rudolph; sister, Stella S. Chace; grandchildren, Christine Testa, Kathleen Mullen, Laura Lopez, Fr. Paul Mariani, Mark Mariani, and John Mariani; and great-grandchildren, Kevan Mullen and Julianna Mariani.
Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. was held at St. Johns Cemetery.
Hans Vetter, a long time resident of the Broad Channel community, passed away on November 10, 2002 at the age of 56.
Hans was employed as a bartender at a tavern in the Broad Channel area.
He is preceded in death by Eileen Glade.
He is survived by many loving family members.
