Debbie Friedman At Brooklyn Center On December 1

Singer songwriter and luminary of American contemporary Jewish music, Debbie Friedman will perform a special Chanukah concert for one show only on Sunday, December 1, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the Walt Whitman Theatre at Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College. This performance is part of L’Chaim Series at Brooklyn Center.

With 19 albums to her credit, Ms. Friedman has inspired a whole generation of American Jewry with her honest and soulful message influenced by many of the artists from the popular folk music movement of the 1960’s and 70’s, including Peter, Paul and Mary, Judy Collins, Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell.

Ms. Friedman’s music is integrated in the liturgy of many synagogues and has become known as "traditional." Her music and lyrics have been featured on the Lifetime Channel series "Strong Medicine" (The Healing Prayer – Mi Shebeirach), as well as in the popular children’s video "Barney In Concert" (The Alef Bet Song).

Debbie Friedman will bring many of her popular songs for young and old that have inspired and comforted people throughout the years as well as special selections for Chanukah to her Brooklyn Center debut.
