American Legion Honors Past Commander

American Legion Honors Past Commander

On November 8, the veterans and Auxiliary members from some 30 American Legion posts, in Queens County, turned out to honor their past Commander, Manfred Brandt (Post #298).

James Casey, PCC (#272), was the master of ceremonies and introduced the distinguished guests: Anthony Minei, Department of New York Treasurer; Paul DeVaul, Suffolk County Commander; John Marino, past Nassau County Commander; Ingrid Bauman Lally, Queens County Auxiliary President and Delia Garvey, past Auxiliary President.

Treasurer Minei presented past Commander Brandt with his PCC pin and noted that he had a successful program in recruiting new members and retaining old members by working with all the American Legion posts in Queens County.

Past Commander Brandt thanked his three Vice-Commanders for liaison with the posts, as his representative, and the other county officers and committee chairmen for their good work. He especially thanked his wife, Emma, for her constant support and assistance in his official duties. Mrs. Brandt presented the past Commander with his PCC cap.

Past County Auxiliary President Garvey expressed her pleasure at working with PCC Brandt during the past year. Current County Commander Severa said that PCC Brandt had left the county organization in good order, enabling him to get off to a good start in his term. Chaplain Archibald Waterman (#1946) gave the benediction and remembrance of our fallen soldiers and comrades lost during the year, bringing the ceremony to its conclusion.
