The 2002 BCAC Shamrock Midgets finished up the regular season with a dominating win on the road against the Levittown Red Devils 26-6 capping an 8 win 1 loss and 1 tie regular season record. The Shamrocks will host the 1st round of the NSFL playoffs on Sunday at 1PM kickoff against the tough Broncos from Seaford at Memorial Field.

The Midget coaches are very proud of their team as they now prepare for the playoffs. In last weeks final regular season game the Midgets were just to over powerful and had way too much talent for the hometown Red-Devils. The Shamrocks put up a score early in the first quarter as super running back Frank Laino took the ball off tackle and ran it into the end zone for a 40 yd touchdown in the first quarter. Laino once again had a great game on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Anthony Ciambriello then threw a bullet to Lonnborg for the extra point putting the Shamrocks up 7-0 never to look back.

This was once again an entire team effort as the senior players and the junior players all contributed to the win. The first team defense was dominating led be the hard-hitting Jack Tubridy from the linebacker position and Brian Faught from the defensive line position. Linebackers Kelly, Laino, Trudden,McManus and Lonnborg kept the outside running game of the Red-Devils down the entire game. The first team defensive line was just as dominating as they clogged up the middle play after play.

The Ponies will kick off against the Bulldogs from Lindenhurst at 11AM. The Midgets wish the older Pony team good luck. The Midgets would like to wish a speedy recovery to Michael Lombardi who broke his hand last week at practice.

Also on Sunday, the awesome Cheering of the Shamrock Senior cheerleading team will travel to Farmingdale College on Sunday 4PM for the 2002 NSFL cheerleading competition. These girls along with the junior team have practiced very hard all season. They have practiced out in the open some nights since we don’t have a gymnasium (Hint Politicians) and hopefully all their hard work will pay off and they will come home with a trophy. This competition is very competitive and the dedication of Head Coach Jenny Badamo is greatly appreciated.

This will be the girl’s second competition as they came home last season with a trophy in their first ever competition. The team led by Jill, Adrienne, Jodi, Lisa, Emily, Blair, Dorothy, Kimberly, Katie, Michelle, Christina, and Stephanie promise to put on a great show in front of all the fans at the competition.
