You’ve Gotta Have Heart

You’ve Gotta Have Heart

In light of the recent vandalism experienced by The Wave’s Associate Editor, Gary G. Toms, we are reminded that there is a price to be paid for pursuing the truth. There are many media outlets, both print and electronic, that have adapted to the practice of "yellow journalism." We are not included in that group. They back away from big news stories because key players are involved, such as policy makers and people of tremendous wealth, or because the story is considered "too deep" and too dangerous to pursue. As "truth-tellers," we at The Wave have a responsibility to go after the stories that will have, or could have, a major impact on the Rockaway community. Certain people will not expect or even want us to cross that proverbial line in the sand, but we will if we have to. There are no yellow journalists here. This is a publication with "huevos," and we will not cower to those who attempt to intimidate us with threats. Yes, you can get too close to the truth in any news story, and the vandalism of our Associate Editor’s car is a clear indication of that.
