Edison High’s Student VP Will Major In Business

Kareem Edwards, a senior Computer Programming Major, and a resident of Far Rockaway, is the Vice President of the student body of Thomas A. Edison Vocational & Technical High School. He has been active in the school’s student government for the past four years and has been on the Queens Superintendent’s Advisory Committee during that time.

In his Sophomore year Edwards attended the HOBY Leadership Seminar connected with the Hugh O’ Brian Youth Leadership organization and this past summer was one of the Edison High School students who visited Germany as a Youth Ambassador in the Bridge To Berlin Program as a guest of the German Government after the September 11 tragedy. He has been involved in the Penny Harvest which raises money for charity and the school’s Food and Toy drives. This year he is on the senior yearbook staff.

Edwards has found time to be the Technical Producer of last year’s school talent show called "Le Show." He is on the Edison H.S. Varsity Basketball and Bowling Teams and has tutored kids in an after school community center. He was one of a group of Edison High School students who accompanied the Coordinator of Student Affairs Gary Burley to the recent weekend Queens High Schools Fair to staff the Edison H. S. booth so next year’s prospective high school students could talk to actual high school students. He is also a part time worker in a restaurant.

Kareem Edwards wants to attend college and major in Business and Management so he can start his own restaurant/night club. He is certainly developing many skills and experiences while at Edison H. S. And seems to have a good chance of reaching his goal.
