Beach Channel had a dogfight on their hands against sixth ranked Lehman High School. Playing hard until the end, BC lost a close game against Lehman 35-20 at home. The loss puts BC at 3-4 and might have cost them a playoff spot.

The Dolphins went up 6-0 but costly fumbles by RB Paul Washington (4 on the day) helped Lehman gain a 14-6 lead by the half. Lehman’s Jonatha Ortiz gained 132 yards and scored 2 touchdowns to pace Lehman (5-2) In the second half, Lehman scored 21 points to overwhelm the BC defense even after BC closed it to 28-20 in the 4th.

The hope is for the other teams ahead of Beach Channel in the playoff race such as Far Rockaway, Midwood and others to lose on Sunday and an BC win to possibly sneak in.

JV Team Beats Springfield

Tyrese Johnson picked up 190 yards and 3 TDs in a win over Springfield Gardens, 24-12. BC goes to 2-1-1 and Springfield is 0-4.
