Voting Throughout the Peninsula November 5

Voting Throughout the Peninsula November 5

While this year’s elections have drawn little interest, voting booths will be open throughout the peninsula on Tuesday, November 5, from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.

This is a congressional election year, and both of the Congressmen who represent Rockaway are up for reelection and both face only token opposition.

Congressman Anthony Weiner, who represents the west end of the peninsula, will face off with Republican Alfred Donohue of Maine Park, Brooklyn. Donohue, 70, is a retired telephone company worker and a former Democrat.

Weiner, 39, is in his second term.

Congressman Gregory Meeks, who represents the east end of the peninsula, is a Far Rockaway man who is in his second term. Meeks faces opposition from Bayswater resident Rey Clarke, who is running on the Independence Party line.

There is a local man running for Governor as well. Jerry Cronin, a Broad Channel resident, is running on the Right To Life Party line. He is the director of the Monsignor Ferris Life Center on Beach 116 Street.
