Titus Forms Advisory Council

Assemblywoman Michele R. Titus, representing the 31st Assembly District, has formed a Community Advisory Committee (CAC), which consists of elected officials, businesses, faith-based and service organizations, and community leaders serving the Far Rockaway area. Membership may vary depending on topics and projects being addressed.

The purpose of the CAC is to ensure the best interest of the residents of Far Rockaway are fully communicated, and taken into full consideration, with regard to construction contracting, post-construction contracting, permanent and temporary employment, and other aspects of various development processes taking place on the peninsula. One of the first projects the committee plans to address is Arverne-By-The-Sea.

Implementation of the committee grew out of the Ministerial Brunch held by Assemblywoman Titus in mid-July, and from concerns brought to her from constituents. Although some projects were initiated before her April election, Titus believes it is easier to build institutions from the foundation rather than trying to tear them down to reconstruct what you wanted all along.

"I am committed to bringing our community together and having its concerns brought to the decision making table," said Titus.

"Revitalization of the Rockaway community has been long awaited, and I don’t want my constituents to have to sit on the sidelines."
