Distinguished Jurist Retires

Distinguished Jurist Retires

On September 25, John J. Allen, also known as Jack, retired from the New York State Supreme Courts after a very distinguished and rewarding thirty-four years of service.

Jack represents the third generation of his family in the court system. His father, also Jack, was a court officer in Brooklyn Criminal. His grandfather John J. Allen the first, was the chief clerk at the Rockaway Court House. Jack opened and was the captain at the Kew Gardens Annex Building for the last eight years.

The Allen tradition does not end there, as Jack’s son, proudly carrying the fourth generation of the same name, is also a court officer in Manhattan. Jack’s brother Richie is also a court officer.

Jack is married to Cynthia, the father of five children, pop to three grandchildren, and his fourth grandchild due any day. His retirement days will be quite full!
