Why Did It Happen?

Why Did It Happen?

Dear Editor;

On Friday, October 18, the intersection of Beach 141 Street and Newport Avenue was the scene of a car collision, with only property damage, and no reported personal injuries. However, before the arrival of the police to investigate this incident, another incident occurred.

At about 2:59 p.m., a yellow school bus, headed eastbound on Newport, started to turn south on Beach 141 Street, positioned itself across the intersection, stopped, and discharged several children. While doing so, Green Line bus number 1177, in total disregard of the flashing red lights of the school bus, proceeded westbound thru the intersection along the Q35 route on Newport, without stopping, in violation of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Would a spokesperson from Green Lines care to respond to why this occurred?
