A meeting of the 300 block residents of the Arverne community will be held on October 15, 7 p.m., at Community C.O.G.I.C. (351 Beach 74 Street – go down Amstel Blvd. past Goody’s to Beach 74 Street) The agenda will include scheduling the next town hall meeting, obtaining legal representation, and position updates. All Beach 69 Street residents, and all Arverne residents that received a letter from the Department of Design and Construction (DDC), are urged to attend.

A Community Health Fair will be held at St. John Baptist Church (74-05 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) on October 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be free diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol screening as well as plenty of handouts and seminars. Free baby car seats will be given out on a first come first serve basis.

Far Rockaway Library Teen Reading Circle for grades sixth through eighth will be offered from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on October 17, November 7, 14, 21, 28, December 5, 12, & 19.

The Regular Democratic Club of the Rockaways (104-02 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) will hold a meeting on Thursday, October 17 at 8:15 p.m. Congressman Anthony Weiner, Justice Charles Thomas and candidate for Civil Court Hon. Timothy Dufficy will be the speakers.

The Sisterhood of Temple Beth El will hold its next meeting on October 15 at the Temple Community House on B. 135 St. at 12:30 p.m. The program will consist of a play performed by the Sisterhood Players. Refreshments will be served. All are invited.

Teens do you need someone to talk to? Just "drop-in" to the Teen Drop-In Center, Mondays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Healthguard Diagnostic & Treatment Center, 217 B. 95 St. No appointment necessary to talk to them about anything!

Voice of The Faithful (VOTF) will meet on Tuesday, October 15. The newly formed Rockaway chapter is hosting a meeting at St. Genevieve’s Church Hall in Rockaway Point to inform the parishioners of the mission and goals of VOTF.
