FRHS Teacher Honored

FRHS Teacher Honored

On Saturday, September 14, 2002, Far Rockaway High School’s own Annette W. Michael, a member of the English Department, was recognized at a dinner in Washington, D.C. for her significant contribution to the cultural literature of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Caribbean.

A Special Recognition plaque was presented to Michael by Dr. Izben C. Williams, Ambassador – St. Kitts and Nevis. Dr. Izben spoke to the fact that "despite varied paths we have taken in life, we are still connected to each other." Michael’s first novel, "Sugar Is All," was cited as a testament to that belief.

Michael, who in addition to being a full-time English teacher at Far Rockaway High School, is also an Adjunct Lecturer at York College. Michaels was born in Bath Village, in Nevis, in the Caribbean.
