JCCRP To Honor Locals At Breakfast

JCCRP To Honor Locals At Breakfast

The Jewish Community Council of the Rockaway Peninsula will host its annual Legislative Breakfast on Sunday, October 20, at 9:30 a.m. at the Congregation Kneseth Israel (White Shul), 728 Empire Avenue, Far Rockaway.

"This breakfast is an ideal forum for the Rockaway Jewish Community to come together and demonstrate our strength as a community to the elected officials, city and state agencies and other groups with whom we relate," said Harvey Gordon, Executive Director of the Jewish Community Council of the Rockaway Peninsula.

"It is also an opportunity for us to thank individuals who have rendered service to the Rockaways."

This year, the organization will acknowledge the support provided by the Chamber of Commerce of the Rockaways. The Chamber will receive the Economic Development Award. JCCRP’s Legislator of the Year Award will be presented to Congressman Anthony Weiner, in recognition of his devoted service to his constituents.

The Community Service Award will be presented to Jonathan Gaska, District Manager of the Community Board 14, to mark his many years of assistance and dedication to the community. Joel Kaplan will receive the Community Development Award for his tireless efforts to improve the community. The JCCRP will also present Matthew Bromme, Superintendent of School District 27, with the Educator of the Year Award, and the Public Safety Award will recognize the commitment and assistance of Police Officer Jan Silverberg of the 101 Precinct.
