The 2 & 1 Shamrock Midgets traveled to West Bablyon last Sunday to take on the tough Eagles in a game which both teams knew was going to be a gridiron duel between these two excellent football teams. The Shamrock Midgets won the coin flip and received the ball. Quarterback Anthony Ciambriello played a great game once again. Facing a tough Eagle defense, Ciambriello led the Shamrock offense the entire game as the halfbacks gained over 200 yards on the ground.

The Shamrocks broke open the scoring with a 60-yard touchdown run by # 8 Ronnie Lonnborg. Lonnborg who gained over 100 yards once again took the ball around the left end and with some beautiful moves he followed some great blocks thrown by half back Frank Laino and Full Back Sean Welsh. The Shamrocks attempted a flat pass to the right side for the extra point but was unsuccessful.

With the score 6 - 0 in favor of the visiting Shamrocks West Bablyon put up a great play themselves, with less than a minute remaining in the half star Eagle running back # 46 Borak took the ball off the right tackle and scampered to the end zone with a 65 yard touch down run. The Shamrock defense led by Sean Welsh, Steven Trudden, Brian Faught, and the whole D played a great defensive game in holding the tough Eagle offense down the rest of the game. The Eagles were unsuccessful with their extra point attempt and the game stayed tied at 6 - 6.

The second half was as grueling as the first as the Shamrocks controlled the ball for most of the game. Offensive lineman John Murray had a great game along with Geoffrey Morrissey, Michael Lombardi, Zachary Wade and John Galimi. These players made some excellent blocks opening holes for the Shamrock backfield. After an excellent defensive series by the big green defense and a great punt by the Eagle punter The Shamrocks drove the ball from their own 22 yard line down to the eagle 19 yard line and came up one inch short of a first down. This was a killer for the Shamrocks, as they appeared to be in the position to put the ball in the end zone with the leading touchdown.

The Defense once again held the Eagles and the Shamrock offense again drove the ball down inside the Eagle zone. With time running out the 10 yr old Cimabrello looked like a high school player as he took the ball from the center and spiked it to the ground stopping the clock. With one second remaining the Shamrocks were stopped by the Eagle defense and the game ended in a 6 - 6 tie. The crowd cheered on all the players as these two teams put on a great show for the fans.

The Shamrocks take on the big Red from Amityville next Saturday evening 8 pm at Memorial Field. If you are tired of watching the Jets and Giants come on out and see some great sandlot football right here in Broad Channel.

BC Ponies Improve To 3 And 1

A great performance on offense led to touchdowns by Seamus Kelly and John Hanning. A beautiful pass secured the extra point from Quarterback Kevin McMahon to Stevie Sugden.

The defensive side held the Bulldogs to one first down in the game. Joe Parisi, Richie Martin, Johnny Elite and George Conklin led the defense. The offensive line also had fine blocking. Next week, the Ponies travel to Levittown for another tough match.
