Russo An Honoree
At PHC Annual Ball
Frank Russo, Jr., member of the Board of Directors at Peninsula Hospital Center (PHC) in Far Rockaway, has been named honoree of the 95th Anniversary Ball, to be held on October 26, 2002 at The Sands in Atlantic Beach.
Russo was elected to the Board of Directors at PHC in 1996. He is being honored for his commitment to the hospital center's growth and his benevolence both as a philanthropist and dedicated fundraiser for Pediatric Medicine.
As a member of the Board of Directors, and as a member of the Pediatric/Fundraising Committee, Russo has been extremely active in projects to advance Pediatric Services at Peninsula Hospital Center. In 1999, he played a major role in the opening of the Angels on the Bay Pediatric Unit at PHC, which was mainly funded by the Angels on the Bay Children's Charity, where he is the Chief Executive Officer.
Russo owns and operates "Russo's on the Bay" in Howard Beach, as well as other business establishments. The inspiration for the Angels on the Bay Children's Charity came from a personal experience. In 1995, the daughter of one of his closest friends was diagnosed as having cancer. He, along with family and friends, began their mission to raise funds for pediatric care. Their first project was the renovation of the pediatric unit at Mary Immaculate Hospital. Since that first project, Angels on the Bay has ventured to support other hospitals in New York and has successfully raised over $1 million.
He is being honored along with Heino Anto, M.D., Chief of the Division of Nephrology and Associate Director of Medicine and Rajbir Chopra, M.D., Attending Physician in the Department of Medicine, Nephrology Department.
Frank Russo, Jr. and his wife Jamie live in Manhasset, New York and have three children.
Ticket and journal ad reservations for the Anniversary Ball are being accepted through the Peninsula Hospital Center Public Affairs & Development Department at 718-734-2506.
