Meet my new little angel, Elizabeth Ann Matuozzi, in her Holly Baby outfit, born to my daughter-in-law, Julie and my son, Kevin Matuozzi. She is my fourth grandchild and was born on August 4 weighing in at 6lbs, 3 oz. in San Diego where her parents reside.
The Festival at Riis Park presented by the Rockaway Music & Arts Council and Gateway National Park was another huge success. Numerous tents of art works such as: Pottery by our publisher, Susan Locke, beautiful stained glass pieces, hand blown glassware, children’s toys and hand made clothing, free massages and reflexology, garden greenhouse with exquisite flowers from the area, ponies for rides and gorgeous retired greyhound dogs available for adoption. These dogs are friendly, docile and wonderful around children. If interested in adopting look on the web at: www.ligreyhound.org.
The Festival was blessed with two days of beautiful sunny, cool weather and many attendees from Breezy Point were there. Gladys Crowley, Patty and Nicole Crowley, Frances Abbracciamento and friends. Ann Heslin was there with her daughter, and driver, Peggy Cryan and her daughter, (Ann’s granddaughter), Laura Cryan who starred in the Rockaway Rock Revue last week at the Ft. Tilden Theatre. She was accompanied by her pals and other stars, Elizabeth Vivino and Hannah McHale from Belle Harbor. And let’s not forget Aunt Patty. It was a great festival. Make sure you are there next year.
On the way home via Peggy Cryan’s car, we stopped to see the beautiful bride, Kelly McVeigh who just married Pete Matlak at St. Francis de Sales church. It was very impressive with Special Moments Excursions’ white limos that seat 31 or 32 passengers parked outside the church to take the large bridal party to the Coral House for the reception. My son’s friend, Jimmy McGoorty was outside the church awaiting the bride and introduced to me to Vincent Churickio, owner of Special Moments. After the trumpets sounded as the bride and groom left the church, they and the bridal party stepped into the impressive limousines and went on their way to the party and hopefully, a new and happy life together.
A beautiful luncheon was held at the Waldorf Astoria for Cosmetic Executive Women Lifetime Achievement Award that went to Jeanette Wagner, Vice Chairman, Estee Lauder Companies who said," My best awards are not public ones. The best awards are making things possible for other people." "One can’t give back, but we can give forward." Kathleen Walas, group Vice President, Public Relations and Corporate Affairs, and President of Avon Foundation, which just raised 40,000,000 for Breast Cancer research, was among the winners. Special recognition award went to Annette Green, President of the Fragrance Foundation. She is the proud mother of the Annette Green Museum at the Fragrance Foundation. She staged many Fifi events. And, I say, "The best thing she has done in life makes good "scents."
Intercontinental Hotels took over the St. Moritz Hotel on Central Park South and I can’t wait to see it. At their blast of a party last week at their Intercontinental "Barkley" Hotel, I was invited to look over their new property and have lunch. This will be followed by a report.
Premier Wine & Spirits, Pinacle Wine Co. & Daniel Selections, in association with the world’s finest wines welcomed wine lovers to their 50th annual Holiday Tastings and Trade Show (many superb Long Island wines were among them). It was a fabulous feast of food and wine tastings at the Lighthouse, Chelsea Piers 61. Great party!

The Golden Princess is in New York for her Canada run of 7 days round trip. She is a beautiful magnificent ship that holds 2700 passengers. The cabins are roomier than most and tastefully appointed. The restaurants built on a small scale to give the impression the ship is not as large as it is. Lunch was divine, well prepared and pleasantly presented. This is a ship many of you would feel comfortable sailing.
