Chamber Seeks Tribute Park Designs

Chamber Seeks Tribute Park Designs

The Rockaway Partnership, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation of the Rockaway Chamber of Commerce, with the collaboration of the Rockaway community, has received funding to construct a waterfront recreation park along beautiful Jamaica Bay in Queens County, New York. The view from the park site is incredibly beautiful as it overlooking the waters of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Preserve, and in the distance, the Manhattan skyline is clearly visible.

This project has been designed to transform a vacant and underutilized lot into a beautifully landscaped and tranquil park that has now been designated as the site of the Rockaway Peninsula tribute to the approximately 70 men and women
we lost on September 11, 2001.

Project Guidelines:

We are seeking an artist to create a "tribute" to those lost from Rockaway
at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Our attainable fundraising goal for this project is a maximum of $75,000.00. Any lower bids will be accepted.

Artwork must fit within a 10' x 10' area at a maximum height of 12'.

Electricity will be available to the site, but water availability is not contemplated at this time.

Approximately 70 names must be included as an integral part of this
tribute, representing those lost from this community at the World Trade

Considering the location, durability is an important factor, artwork should be salt and wind resistant.
