Correction to an item in an earlier column: Michael Redpath is one of four artists participating in an exhibition at the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery through October 26. The gallery is at 511 West 25 Street in Manhattan, not 28 Street, as was earlier reported.
RAA 2003 calendars are hot off the presses. These beautiful, conveniently concise calendars display the colorful work of four of RAA's finest artists. They will be available at the RAA info table at this weekend's RMAC arts and crafts festival. Come to this popular annual event and pick up a copy. It just wouldn't be Fall in Rockaway without the festival.
ARTSPLASH 2002, establishing itself as another Rockaway Fall tradition, begins October 5 at Fort Tilden. Opening reception is October 6, for this multimedia arts celebration that runs throughout the month. Read more about RAA's ARTSPLASH 2002 in another part of this newspaper. Schedule of live performances is included. Rockaway Artists Alliance thanks Newsday for sponsorship of the opening reception and refreshments for the following four weekends of ARTSPLASH 2002.
RAA is pleased to offer a painting course for adults called "A Study in Impressionism." Patrick Antonelle, regarded as "the American Renoir," is the instructor. Antonelle's paintings are to be found in major private and corporate collections. Registration will be limited. Contact the RAA office for more information. Through October 27 Gateway National Recreation Area's Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge hosts "Refuge on Canvas," an exhibition of the work of local artist Lois Stiene. The paintings were inspired by the park's landscapes in different seasons and by its birds and flowers. On Sunday, September 29, 2:30 - 4 PM, Stiene will be on hand to discuss her work at a "Meet the Artist" opportunity at the refuge. Synchronicity Space at 106 West 13 Street in Manhattan presents Christian LeGars - "Works on Paper: Watercolor, Original Artist Prints," October 1 - 26. Opening reception is October 1, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
