Get Off To 2-0 Start

Beach Channel 17 Midwood 15

In the first half at Midwood High School, BC's Allen Trujillo booted a 33-yard field goal and Lamar Hilliard's 16-yard TD run put the Dolphins in front of Midwood by the score of 9-0 at the half.

In the fourth quarter, Midwood began to cut off the Dolphins' oxygen. The Hornets' Desean Larmond scored on a 8 yard TD run with Rob Fresneda scoring the two point conversion to make it 17-8. Midwood QB Edward Guerrero hits Fresneda for a 22-yard TD pass and the Hornets kicked the extra point to make it 17-15.

Beach Channel recovered an offside kicks and managed to hang on for the win.

Far Rockaway 14 Madison 8 (OT)

In an exciting game, Far Rock's Christopher Howard found Marlon Rodriguez in the back of the end zone in overtime to help the Rock prevail.

"Everybody and everything seems to click at the right time. This was a team effort," Far Rock's Head Coach Les Sabbah said.

At the start of the second quarter, Madison jumped ahead 6-0 on a touchdown run by Anthony D'Amato from 6 yards. Robert Sorrenti caught the two-point conversion pass.

The Seahorses' Michael Toney recovered a Madison fumble. Far Rockaway made the Knights pay when Marlon Rodriguez cruised into the end zone after a 45-yard TD run and scored a two point conversion to make it 8-8 at the half.

On Saturday, September 21, both schools will be playing at home. Beach Channel (2-0) will host James Madison. Far Rockaway (2-0) will face off against Queens rival, Campus Magnet. Both games will kickoff at 11 a.m.
