To Fund Tribute Park

The Rockaway Partnership, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation of the Rockaway Chamber of Commerce, is selling "tribute bricks" to help it fund the new "Tribute Park" on the bayfront at Beach 116 Street. The park will be built in memory of those Rockaway people who lost their lives in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

The bricks were introduced at a groundbreaking ceremony held last Tuesday night at the park site.

Since some of the funding already received for the park restricts the use of the words "In Memory Of," those who want to dedicate a brick to somebody who was lost may have a tree etched on their brick.

Each 4 inch by 8 inch brick will cost $75. Those who want an brick that is eight inches square must pay $100. The etched bricks will serve as a walkway to tribute site.

Those who wish to donate extra $5 dollars will receive a mini-brick acknowledging the donation.

To purchase a brick or for further information, contact the Chamber of Commerce at 634-1300.
