Chamber Concert Tix On Sale

Chamber Concert Tix On Sale

Tickets for the Chamber of Commerce-sponsored concert are now on sale at a number of locations around the peninsula, including The offices of The Wave, the Chamber offices on Beach 116 Street, The Sunset Diner and West End Realty.

The concert, featuring Soundsations Music, operated by DJ Ken "Kojak" Rappaport (an alumnus of Far Rockaway High School), is presented in collaboration with the Rockaway Chamber of Commerce (Rockaway Partnership). It will be held on October 5, at 7 p.m at Beach Channel High School.

This event will serve as a major fundraiser for the art installation that will stand as a tribute to the residents of Rockaway lost in the World Trade Center attack. The installation will be a focal point of the new Jamaica Bay waterfront park at Beach 116 Street and Jamaica Bay (Groundbreaking for the park site is scheduled for September 17 at 6 p.m. at Beach 116 Street and Jamaica Bay).

Entertainment lined up for this sure to be a sell-out event includes: Rockaway’s own Gerald Bair, singer, impersonator Barry Feterman (a graduate of F.R.H.S.), Jerry Delmonico – "Sinatra & Friends", "Sweet Sound Band" – featuring music from the 40’s to the 80’s, rock band "Mantra", 13-year old singing sensation Erica Melore, the "Streethearts" and "Broadway"- female and male acapella singers, singers Dr. Stuart Rappaport & Barbara Silverman (graduates of F.R.H.S.) barbershop quartet "Meshugga Daddies", HBO comic Michelle Balan, rhythm and blues group "King Pin", and the now-famous New York City firefighter soloist Bill Gleason.

Tickets are $10 per person in advance and $15 at the door. Raffles and refreshments will be available. Since seating is limited, be sure to pick up your tickets for the show in advance.

Already included as sponsors for this community benefit are Waldbaums, Pathmark, and Legend Pharmacies. All proceeds raised at the concert will go toward the Rockaway Partnership’s "Tribute Park" fund maintained by the Rockaway Chamber. Look for upcoming flyers and posters that will be distributed widely throughout the entire Rockaway peninsula. For further information, please contact the Chamber of Commerce.
