Thanks, Women of Rockaway!

Thanks, Women of Rockaway!

Dear Editor;

I have just returned home from the screening of the documentary "Women of Rockaway" presented by Time Warner Cable and the Oxygen Network held at The Beach Club.

Although my heart became heavy with sadness and anger, the most overwhelming feeling I came away with was gratitude. The women in this film did not choose to be in their positions, but chose to share their glories, with honesty and dignity.

Their strength is a testament to their lost loved ones; because now they are the ones helping other people. Families of other victims of 9/11 will see they are not alone in their experiences and the children of Rockaway now have the opportunity to attend an art healing program at P.S. 114 funded by Time Warner Cable to begin in the fall. Our children need this.

So thank you "Women of Rockaway" for your strength and for reminding me why I am so proud to be a member of this community.

Rockaway will never forget you and your "American Heroes." God Bless You!
