Dissed Again!

Dissed Again!

How much more can Rockaway residents take at this point? It was bad enough when Mayor Guiliani, and many of his predecessors, ignored the concerns and proposals put forth to help the peninsula, now it appears that we have been shunned again. The residents of Long Island City have recently become the proud recipients of ferry service from Queens to Manhattan’s Pier 11. The ferry provider, NY Waterway, took part in a tour of Rockaway several months ago to possibly consider starting up service here. Many in the community were excited about the visit, and they felt we were one step closer to our long awaited dream. Well, keep dreaming Rockaway! It’s the old, "I’ll have dinner with you, but don’t even think about dessert!" scenario all over again. Rockaway has always been "teased" with false promises, and the fact that Long Island City residents now have a ferry is proof that we continue to be overlooked by the city and many of its officials.
