Shooting Leaves 2 Victims

A wild shootout on a Bayswater street on Tuesday afternoon has left two Rockaway men hospitalized and four others under arrest. The two hospitalized men have been arrested as well.
According to police sources, the incident began when two automobiles pulled up to each other in front of 2342 Regina Avenue, right off Beach Channel Drive.
"The two drivers were known to each other and had an ongoing dispute," a police source at the office of the Deputy Inspector for Public Information told The Wave on Wednesday. There was one passenger in one car and three in the other.
Those sources say that the two drivers shot at each other and both of them were wounded.
The wounded are Andre Cohen, 32, of 444 Beach 44 Street, who was shot four times in the stomach and once in the leg and Rondell Mitchell, 19, of 453 Beach 40 Street, who was shot twice in the leg.
The two men were arrested on charges of attempted murder, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to a spokesperson for Jamaica Hospital, Cohen remains in serious condition while Mitchell was released after treatment.
Police say that two of the car’s passengers fled the scene. Their car, a blue Acura, was found a short distance from the shooting scene. They were located by police of the 101 Precinct at a private residence at 2340 Enright Road.
Police obtained a search warrant for that address and arrested the four other men inside that house.
Fabien Howard, 20, of 2340 Enright Road and Shawn Gipson, 21, of 438 Beach 40 Street, the two men who fled the shooting, were arrested for attempted murder, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
Two other men, who were in the house where police found a .357 caliber handgun and a .380 caliber weapon, were arrested on weapon charges. They are Winston Howard, 40, and Steven Dorcy, 30 of that address.
Police officials declined to speculate on the reasons for the "ongoing dispute" between the two drivers.
