Huhn: Time To Fight Drugs

Kenneth Huhn, the Independence Party candidate for Assembly in the 23 A.D. this week stated: "If we truly want to fight drugs we have to fight both the supply and demand parts of the drug problem. To do this we must change the Rockefeller drug law."

"I agree with putting away anyone who is a convicted drug dealer for at least 25 years. This is the way you fight the supply part of the drug program," Huhn says. "When it comes to the demand side of the problem, right now if someone is convicted of using drugs we put them in jail, where most likely they will get drugs away. I believe that a better plan is to put them in a treatment center for 9 months and then 9 months probation. Under my plan we will be trying to get the person off drugs and back to being a healthy human being."

"Now, people will ask, who is going to pay for this treatment? Well the cost for the program is the same, if not less expensive than locking them up in jail," he concludes
