On The Beach… With Beverly Baxter

This column is dedicated to the local victims of the 911 attacks on the World Trade Center and to their families who continue to mourn their loss. With respect to this most solemn infamous event, this column will be kept short and succinct.

Words are inadequate to express the unfathomable and excruciating pain that many feel. As per the Governor's request, church bells across the state will ring at the exact moment the planes hit and the towers fell. Pataki also asked that schools and other public institutions be made available as a venue for those who wish to gather and seek comfort. Whether you attend mass or shul, or mark these moments in privacy and solitude, we will remember...and never forget.
***It's nice to hear that Mrs. Marion O'Hara of Belle Harbor is up and about and doing much better since she sustained injuries when flight 567 crashed in Belle Harbor.
***Birthday wishes to Dan "the man" Dowd as he celebrates another year on September 13th.
***My condolences to Tina Johnson on the loss of her husband Albert "Skip" Johnson. If you've ever dined at Tiberio, then you've been served and mothered by Tina. She is such an exceptional human being. I am truly so sorry for your and your little daughter Kayla's loss.
***My condolences to Eric Berardino and his enitire family on the loss of
their beloved mother Pauline.
Prayers for the town I love so well.
