A Solution To Beach Problem

A Solution To Beach Problem

Dear Editor;

Many years ago, I wrote the Wave suggesting that there be a surfing beach every ten blocks, so that no surfer would have to walk more than a quarter mile to the nearest surfing beach. There should also be a fishing beach every ten blocks.

The peninsula could be fairly divided thusly: 4 swimming beaches with lifeguards 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., 1 surfing beach open sunrise to sunset, 4 swimming beaches with lifeguards 8am to 8pm, 1 fishing beach open sunrise to sunset, etc, etc.

This would free up lifeguards to watch the swimming beaches. The surfing and fishing beaches would be at your own risk. The swimming, surfing and fishing beaches would all still feel "neighborhoodsy."

One surfing beach for the entire peninsula is not enough. We need
lots of them.
